Hey, Sam, listen to the scar show with beef on, whatever it is FM. Thank you. This is the heavy monster, so the nutzes, so the road who stop the play feel this is make you. Look at you, look at me, look at I'm rubbing strong and now it's time away. You can stay away, stay away. I'm living over my life with you with your silly game, and look at me. I'll do things you're making me and now it's time away. Give me, stay away, away. You can stay away with your city, with your city. I got take anymore. You can stay away the way you stay away, with your silly game, with your game. Now you don't. That's fine.

A long shot kicked de Bucket. Yes, what a way to kick...

...off this Thursday afternoon of the scar show with beefee. You are listening to a sudden FM eighty eight point three, the sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet sounds of the bay side. Yes, what better way to get that much closer to her? A long weekend, then two hours of great scar tunes from all over the planet. And we have a special show for you because there is so much scar going on it is incredible, especially here in old Melbourne town, right in the midst of winter. Yes, it is. Yeah, what do we kick the show off with? We had Alex Preston the start of General Claius with silly games. A little did he? He wrote not that long ago General Care Supported Day waitling in the English beat, the too can I mean the other day. So what a night for those guys. The M fetamenes add to Scotland with good one go and then long shot, kicking bucket by the very, very, very special specials. The specials. They support the rolling stones in Coventry the other week as well. What a night that was. By all accounts, absolutely fantastic. I would have liked to gone today actually, the specials and rolling stones. How good would that have been? Absolutely fantastic. Anyway. Thank you for joining me. I am beefy. This is the best guys show on the planet, apparently, I get told. Honestly, I'm not making that up now, I am. What else we got for you? I'm I'm just going to play two hours of absolute good tunes. I've got special guest in the studio a bit later on. These guys are coming up in Melbourne at twenty five of June, one hundred and seventy Russell. They are called street light manifesto. It is called failing and flailing. Say you got Jo, but I don't have my say. You've got the answers, but I made no wirees and Faily, you God motherfucking here. But see you play the one...

...who ever told you what you had with me. Nothing, so proud she got. Sure it is. You know that's not one you ever give it up, but you. But you had was really nothing, nothing, nothing. That's why I still Sunday. I'll deserve me always hot. I know what. It's time to stand, loon, that no one understands your language. Warning, language, warning, language, warning, but I'm across the sky like a temper, like a phoenix. Mix Summer. Think about the chicken. I travel around and we ruck around this town. It's time to pick it up. When I do the things I said back and see the...

...things I said. See, because he's not. I step for my heart. You're so strongways can't be possible. So scared you drop these. You're out possible, because you can't be possible. Scared, you drop the on. That is sorry, just getting choked up here for no reason at all. Dan podcast, formerly sing of M thirty. Obviously that was what was that called watch where you walk. Absolute brilliant. And Dan is coming down to Australia. He is not only supporting street line manifesto, as I quite mention. I will give you the street like manifested dates in a minute, but he's done a lot of brewery tours as well. So while he's he he's Alexandria and the twenty thing that June, the rocks brewing company, Nomad Brewing Company in sittingy on twenty three, Dayton beer I supposed as brewing as well in Carum Down's on the twenty four and the ether a brewing company in Milton. I'm assuming that's Milton in a bridge Vegas on the thirty. So those gigs are free a penny, but you do have to get tickets so because they are a limited capacity. So that is a fantastic little mini tour for Dan. But he is supporting street like manifesto. So twenty five of June hundred and Seventy Russell are here in all Melbourne. Twenty Six of June Manning Barons Sydney, twenty seven at the Govin Adelaide, twenty eight in the tripid in a Brisbane. Get your tickets out. We did play straight that manifesto failing at flyling. In between that was the Benny's with the title track off the latest album and natural born at chillows. The reason why I squeeze them in is and tie from the Benny's is supporting in a melbourn. I don't know if he's doing the other shows. There is a possibility he is, so I don't know what is solo stuff is going to be some massive scare man. So we have had him on the show before when the Benny's launched Natural Baun Chows, and I'm sure we will get them in again. I'm just confirming as well Dan, that podast will possibly be in. Not sure why there's going to be in the studient because I don't think the timings work out to ever him host, but we are definitely doing a phone call on the show the Thursday before the streetline manifesto gigs. It's about the twenty five, I mean twenty two, twenty three, so like that. Looking forward to talk in and catching up with Dan. I haven't seen him for a long, long time. What else we got for you? We're just going to keep playing some music. Thank you for listening to the scary show would be, if you like. So I do have a special guest a bit later on, over from New Zealand. Oh Yeah, New Zealand.

Our forces, the forces of SCA, do get over to New Zealand and the guys on the a stones have come across. They're playing a lot of shows squeezed in over the weekend, over the long weekend. Just remember that. So, yeah, I've got any brand from the band. He's going to come in and just have a chat and talk all things New Zealand scat. Yes, that's my New Zealand excit. Yes, it is. Anyway, let's say to France, this is a band that I got a EP. It's been out for a little bit. It's called the fake new ZP. Guess what the bands called? It's called fake news. This is donald trump's favorite band. This is fake news. In what we need has been stolen. That's keep growing guided. We made. Choices have consequences. Older, I should see. Let us dance. Trying to bring myself all these men, you'll act doing simple tricks. Wasn't penny left that. I can't stand at all. Controller Changing Hands Seas. I'm waking up as quickly as...

I land to break and stop some state of mind that I can't stand at all for something my job every way. That is the brilliantly named flying raccoon suit. Yes, the flying raccoon suit. They are at a Mrs Shippy, and I love that. So I'm just called cruel before that. Fake News what we need. You are listening to scario would be. Thank you for joining me. I'm having a lot of fun, as normal. Hope you are too. There are so much great stuff, so much great stuff happening. If I I speak, it's should be just amazing one day. Great News. Mighty mighty bosstones have a new album a very, very shortly. Trying to find out news whether they are actually going to bother come to Australia at some stage soon. Trauma Best, trauma. Best to convince them. Not I known personally, but put a bit of pressure on whoever's managing them in Australia just to say, Yep, let's do this anyway. The new album is out very, very shortly, June fifteen. So what's that? Two weeks away, ten days away. They have released one song so far. Wonderful Day for the race, and this is little preview of the second song off that album is called the constant. To ever listen. First of all, your last and you're the least. And here there's a champ, but the cast has increased. This conceptions of common expectations are high corrections. I made apations just die. They can be vicious, malicious crup. Don't get suspiciously done, interrupt dry fly and just go away, or told to steady trod in the Riga. My rolls a chance still and fuck you asshole. Wages garnished. Any hours were cut. Reputation to Chinish your hair for what? First, then you're dismissed more times than they do it. I know you exist. Let's just the way they operate. Will tell you.

I'm a star. Now, start to start, start, sweet swear, Star, Star, start. Start. I do with time. These ve you as got blood. Yeah, I never see a bull him by. Yeah, we do the sky. Here we got here. We scout...

...with the sky till we got here. We scout the sky. Here, we got here. We Sky, sky is all we day for. Up Big time, ready to face out orders siding and that did line decided to raise. I got you. Yeah, we do the sky year, we sky year. We scout we to the sky. Here, we sky Yere, we scout, we to the sky. Here, we sky Yire, we sky. The Sky is all we need. The deeper the waters the Stream, the thicker the love stronger. Now Come, let me all over the scene, treading a black out white for green. God. You don't know why it Yere, we scout, we go the sky. Here, we sky Yill, we scouting to the sky. Hell, we sky. Here, we Scotty to the sky. Here, we sky. Here, we sky. The Sky is all we need. No, boys from the Tower, tell me why, sweet ring on, so ANA love real deal. Yes, they will take up to the moon if you were going and Jad to within the Matthew dollar sign the bottom, but now it's still good. By the green because I love is so insane. So let's drive the God. The Sky is all we need. Year, we scout to the sky. Here, Sky, year, we scout to the sky. Sky. Here, we scouting to the sky, sky, sky, the sky is alway. Ye, scout the sky. Sky, we scout to the sky. Here, we stand, here, we scout. We to the sky. Here, we scar Ye, sky, sky is alway. Yeah, sky is all we need. Of course it is. That's why we're here. After all, that was the King Blues. They're out of old London town. Before that melbourn's own MELBOURN's fine. It's the godfathers of Australian scar. A strange tenants. Got Some shows coming up fairly soon. I do believe that one's called do the Scout. They will have a new album out fairly. Surely just being mastered. I think it's due to be finished any day. No, Bruce is telling me, so look out for that. And obviously been the heralders of Australian Sky Music and well, it's got music in the world. We will be the first to play it. I'm hoping so, if Brucey gives me the old premiere rights on this old here Skar show. Part from that. Yeah, we just keep plowing along. Coming up after the news. We do like they have a little bit of funny. Might be a bit different this sweet because we do have Nick Brown from the stones coming in to have a chat to us about the shows coming up this weekend. But we will play some covers. I guarantee you that. Always play some cover some tunes you wouldn't expect to hear normally on this old radio show. But I do like to have a little bit of fun and just kind of flood the network with something a little bit different. Tunes you wouldn't expect to hear, but tunes. They should have been done in the first place. Yes, they should have been done that way. Anyway, we got a couple of minutes, couple of tunes before the news. This one is by call me Malcolm. This is off their new killing spree EP absolutely brand news gold killing spree I. So Friday she stop for the follow my I the kilo, would be the hotel. Do you know you...

...can listen to son through your smart phone. Just download the free tuning APP and search for Southern FM. That was the call me Malcolm with killing spreech. That a little bit of an issue there. So we're sorry. I can't get the next June playing. What shall we play just as a kind of fill in? This is the funatics with what's going on? What's just? It's just then, what's you wonder what the Hell? It's just.

No, just a what's it? What's what's going on? It seems I'm going down again. They said that the TAP spending money. It's only drinking through the night up to the next day if I want. When I get home, well, I'm still see those single guy will shit for me. I driple my shoes across the room and nose side of the world. I think she looked at me as I began to fall. If I walk, I get. I want to free, I wanna break free. I want to every gree your mind. I wanna break free. I fall, I fall, as I'm falling in but last in design. I gotta make it...

...my mind. Can't you dream? We have to realize unless we're clinging to the things we pay. The week was the last the full show. The sixty makes a little time success, a failure one that also bet you didn't think you're going to hear Howard Jones on the scar show. would be fe but yes, I'll bring it to you. Area seven with Queens. I want to break free as well, but that things going only get better. Rue Boy George. At a New York City they do. That's all I do, is covers. There's quite a few scar covers bank kicking around our party like it's the Holophonics, rue boy George. They just concentrate on doing covers, but without further do it's a second hour. Thank you for joining us on the scar show. would be for it is, though, sweet, sweet sounds of the scar scene in Bayside. Eighty eight three Sun FM. My great pleasure all the way from Auckland, New Zealand. Nick Brown from the a stones. Nick, thanks for coming in pure year, kid alder. Yes, I'm all over that. By the way, mate, the a stones are finally fine, finally in ten and you make in the most of this little long weekend visit. Well, yeah, playing good, getting as many showers and as we can. We've got three shows lined up. So yeah, it's going to be a busy time. Yeah, Friday night with looney tunes and at the Yarrow Hotel, a Saturday night on the transit bat rooftop Fed Square. That's going to be a corker. Yeah, that pretty cool. And then Sunday Newport balls club with our whole host appear, fellow Kiwi Luke Yowood. Yeah, scavenders, who have just been going...

...well for fair too long, and fair too long for they want to remember as well, and Johnny Longshot. I obviously bill shit shared up the Steve because he organized a lot of the stuff. So what amount Steve is fantasy to get along Sunday to Newport balls club. Will Get along to any one of the three gigs. It should be absolutely there's johnny, Johnny Longshot, I think, to playing. Yeah, he's launching an album as well, so I'm not kind of all over all across what Johnny's going to put up for there. But New Port Balls Club. It's a lot of fun there. So if you get bored of the music, by the way, just get out on the bare footballs and just kick it along. I'll tell what we do. We'll play one of the ace tones tunes and then we'll have a bit more chet. I think the the one you kind of pushed at me is CC is more the scar side of things. Yeah, I'll see. See was written by l guitarist Ross and that's that's yeah, it's a traditional SCA tune, beautiful with a little bit of a seat like you'll see, a little bit of a see will beat. We'll ever listen to. Now. This is CC by the a stones, all the way for I'm Oakland Music. Don't I see you in body, but your scares with heath. Don't you time with me. I see you're in it. My see what your scart with me your death, letting the girl I want, as we beautiful CEC by the ace tones. So Nick obviously influences a bit more...

...kind of older generation and kind of my scarp punk favor. Yeah. Well, I'll probably came in this. We came on through the work same way, through the twotone. Yeah, back on the S and then and then started listening to all this whole of stuff and I was like well, that stos really, really good. Yeah, so let's let's go and and have a good listen to all that sort of stuff. Obviously got into the scar lights and quite a big way. And and then as the band's grown and we've got more members, we've just started off as a full piece doing pull instrumental stuff. We've had mighty JEB's go, who's WHO's our our front man singer. He's also DJ, he's from Leeds and and so he's you know, there's all sorts of influence coming from, you know, from there, and we all just look really love all the music and just it's a it's a great it's a great education. Yeah, and what it's going to mix it up as well and not, you know, corner yourselves in certain areas. So you kind of spread the love that way? Yeah, you do, and there's all sorts of I mean the good thing about that Jamaica music is that, you know, going through from the old rock scar and then going through into rock steady and the early, early Reggae, and it's all and all that, don't all boss boss Reggae or what they call skinnyd reggae. Well, that kind of has negative connotations over the side of the world. But yeah, you know boss Reggae, all that sort of stuff, you know toochs on the matails and early toots and that kind of thing. You know, such a rich array of music to call on now to be able to write new stuff. It's awesome. The best thing I find about it as well is the the kind of undertone of everything, right from the s right through to today, is still the same. Yeah, it just carries through that Backba all the way to doesn't matter what variation you have. And still this fourth way stuff that I refuse to kind of play that the Americans are kind of throwing down our throats at the minute, but it's still they still think it's kind of scar because of that that you know, deep down underlying tone. Yeah, I mean it's yeah, it's always had that backbeat, you know, yeah, ever since, even since. You know, they're picked up on that OFFBEATN and really every different style of song. A lot of it just basically comes to what the rhythm's doing. You know. Yeah, there was or check, get war or whatever. And now what is it? What is the scene like in using it? Because obviously we've seen the managers. They were kind of I don't know if they're still kind of kicking around or there's a new band out called the nightgaunts who were there. We're going to play them a bit later on, and so I'm quite surprised, obviously, with the background in Reggae, that the kind of the local New Zealand public love. How there isn't been more transition into scar. I think most of the riggae sort of came from the influence of Bob Marley and most of the reggae bands were heavily influenced by Bob Marley and by the rest of fire movement, whereas the first sort of scar stuff that really hit New Zealand was that two times car and and now it's really good because bands are merging. There's we played the get just before we came over, we played a good with a band called the the mighty hubersman and they were beautiful and they were doing like old toots, old toots numbers, yeah, and you know, and another sort of old reggae covers and sing it with, you know, like that Polynesian vocal. Yeah, L off, just beautiful. And and so they're coming from from, say, our roots perspective, an in going back, and we've got obviously gone right back and then we sort of coming forward and going at it and to that sort of pre pre roots reggae is what I call it. Yeah, now be good too, good to see a kind of a New Zealand kind of niche scar, kind of what we can kind of build it any fact, because it's quite interesting. I Tony Jamie runs the SCAT track up in Brisbane. Yeah, about he's been researching into what they call kind of island scar, which is item reggae for like the Tewe islands and and that way they've got real own kind of scar reggae. Fusion, I'm going to call it. We Love Fusion on this show by don't. So it's quite interesting. It be good to know if the mighty herdsman can kind of create their own little corner of the Sky Universe. Yeah, I mean I call them them more kind of Riggae, but they've also they've gone a couple new members and so it's at a bit of Psychedelia and away, because I've got the sort of saxophone player and Nice. Yeah, that's pretty cool. But as far as the scar scenes concern you, there's there's there's a lot. There's everything from sort of...

...like bands like roof dog, which a kind of more like punk scar, and and then we've got this sort of like still look like a lot of two time bands. There's bands like us which are doing, you know, the more more traditional scar and early Jamaican stuff. There's also has been called sorry about it, who are doing that. There was a guy they called it Sushi and the moisters, who he's deep really is Guy Really? Well, yeah, the story anyway. He he's actually over in England now, but he anyway. He, he's, he's, he, he really. I suppose he was the fish. One needs them to do traditional scar. Yeah, and then you we've got beans, like you just mentioned before, the night gaunts, who probably more American food wave and yeah, that sort of style. So yeah, it's there's all the different sorts of styles all the way through, as well as obviously lots of Reggae, lots of DUB. Yeah, it's good too, good to see that. Like I said, what I'm finding the more and more I do this show and the more people are get in touch with me about, you know, having you know their music played on the air, is the amount of diversity and amount of acting new bands just popping up out of nowhere, saying when over go at this, yeah, you know, and having they've got all got their own take on things. So it's this genre is just absolutely fantastic to see the there's so many different directions it can take, but the one underlying thing is what we just talked about, is having that backbeat underneath, and then you can go anywhere with it. Yeah, yeah, you can. Yeah, I mean personally I sometimes I think it goes a little bit too I don't know, into the Rock Veine, but for me personally. But yeah, it came, it can it can go. You know, you can do a lot of different sorts of things with it. Definitely all right, I'll tell you what we're do. Well, ever, listen to the I'm going to call them the godfathers of New Zealand scar because I don't really know too many other beans. These are the managers. This is called think twice. He said, what's uptake a. We are back with the scar show. Would be very special edition because we've got Nick Brown from the a stones all the way from New Zealand in the studio. We just heard the managers and that was think twice and the a stones basically off the back of the managers. I'll be three. Three your guys. Is it that we're in the managers? Well, yeah, there was only three people that went through the managers. Yeah, as one of those car beings. But yeah, Ross was a long time number. And then myself and the key will. The keyboard just hit that. She was on the bean for a little while as...

...well. Right, yeah, yeah, and the managers are no more. The managers of had the day in the same dad day. A sad day when that happens, isn't it? Yeah, did do do the a stones kind of bang out a couple of managers numbers every now and again. I we strictly wanted to go traditional Jamaica, fair enough, and really get away from the whole two times things. So we actually, you know, we we we steer completely away from from any other two times sort of stuff. Yeah, okay, thanks something. So any surprises? Obviously you got three shows in three days. Yeah, probably a lot of drinking as well. No doubt you actually was. After all, obviously it's Friday night, Saturday night, Sunday afternoon something after noon. Could be a struggle. Yeah, Oh, yeah, you. Hopefully it'll be. It'll be. I'm really looking forward to that show because it's going to be the big one. Yeah, it's going to have like it'll be great to see this guy off, and there's in Johnny long shot and Luke. So yeah, I suppose we'll just be sort of trying to keep that one the but seemly we've got to fly up for really early the next day. All right, yeah, well, we got to be there, but at ten o'clock in them all. That's not too bad, it's not to you. So, sister, is this the first time playing in Melbourne? Yes, yeah, so, yeah, we've because was such a big band. You know, we didn't invidraw wages and we just like saved up money and we thought hey, let's go to Melbourne and you know, and and so Red Gag, Stev rings and kid organize gigs and he ordered he did a couple and then we didn't have anything for the Friday night and so looney tunes, Adam, yea, yeah, Adam. He sort of this out for that. So that was great, you know. So now we've got a full line. It's Brilliantice. It's Melbourne is the right place to do this, by the way. It's so you can get away with three years in three days because there is so many people in so many different areas you have competing. Actually with it. There's another scar gig on Friday night with the resonators and the Kujo kings plane. So it's been unfortunate. But they are off to Canada on Monday. I believe they're playing the Victoria, yeah, scar and reggae fest. So we're they're in a bit of a sendoff Gig and trying to raise a bit of cash that way. So in terms of that it's, like I said, is scar. You know, it's a scar frenzy. All of a sudden later on this month, I mean Batman is unfortunately canceled earlier, late May, but they are due to come back. But we got streetlight manifesto coming. Yep, twenty five of June and then well, strung a kind of in between there on the end of the month, thirty of June. But there's so much happening it's is crazy. I tell you what, let's see we can get the slackers down the scene of the world. But well, they've talked about it. I mean they keep wanting to come. Yeah, but we should wait and see this. I mean lots of things. I mean Scot Lights came last year, I think, or start a last year's caught. That's not the eighteen months ago now. So every now and again we get kind of comes and fits and starts. I think does. Yeah, but as you know, the logistics of getting a decent scaband over to Australia when they're eight, nine, ten piece they want to bring lights, guys and saying guys and getting all our instruments and everything else, is it proves to be a little bit more difficult than first planned. Yes, it is quite logistical. The twelve see the bustle is diffinitely a must. Yes, it is definitely a mustard. I know even from this end, getting people around town and it you know, if you're doing a whole east coast Tories. How you get between, you know, Melbourne and Sydney, with all the gear and everything else. So it's it gets pretty ridiculous, but there you go. Anyway. Should we play what we play? Nick, give us a tune. Okay, so we could blow the party something like we cut me loose. I thing could be quite a good one. Cup Me Loos. This is a strictly rocks didy sort of a vibe, which was the sort of style of music that came at after after scare. Really, I suppose, no promat all. This is the stones with cut me loose. Cool, now I don't feel well. You know that we're trying no one. When we quarrels are taking off, it was without an thinks. You're standing the same girl since, but as time I chase, my feelings are changed. The magic has gone. But you wonder right now, welcome, know that we're trying no one. You Gotta's eyes criticize,...

...and now I gotta fall the shop. Well, know that we try no, you gotta. When we first got together, we back in the day, we connected forever, and so many differ. But now it's time to move on. Find Out. Guess time to move on. What's going on? We match your eyes, criticize, and now I kind of fall. I don't welcome know that. What? No one can keep it by bread. I A little to my life. Keep it, keep it burn intil the break in my life. Keep it a little tomorrow in my lad I lit in my life. Keep it burn, keep it burn till the break in my land. Keep it burnt my my life. Keep it burning,...

...keep it fur into the break, keep it, keep it, keep it burn intil the break. A little to keep it burning. Keep it the break in my life. Keep it furn fighting outside the I that is Auckland,...

SCAP punker's, the night gaunce, and obviously I've played with well, the Aso, where the managers really the previously probably a stones as well. No dates. Yeah, well, yeah, well, I mean it's a Ross puts on the show once a year, which is scarfish. Oh yeah, and and basically every scar and a lot of reggae x on the country come along and the used we used to the king's arm with the king's arms, but unfortunately that's closed down. That was like the premium happy when you told me the king's arms is no longer there. I was gutted with it because it's really, really nice and friendly venue. Oh, it's awesome, Vin you, you know, was good sound and kind of one of those venues that can you can cram five hundred people in the end, but you know, if you've got a hundred and fifty gets still, it's yeah, of course. And Yeah, it was great here that that particular show that Ross puts on, I and Jake's friend. Basically they run two stages and they do just bands back to back and beautiful. You'll have about twelve bands DJ's in the afternoon. Nice. Yeah, Nice, there is. I'm just trying to think. We don't Francis from resons put on the always just scar nation here, but that's kind of not happened for a few years now. I know he probably lost a lot of money on that, no doubt, but it's a big risk sometimes putting on these big, kind of niche festivals. Yeah, well, I mean what we what we did there as kind of like divided them to the bands. Are The guy to come up from Wellington? Yeah, you know, they kind of get paid out a bit more, but you know, to cover their expenses, and they all came beers all came bands just, you know, memal fear. But you know, we get through drinks and why? Exactly right. Yes, that's what a Havin Fun, you know. Well, that's the main thing, and we do it for love. Obviously I'm not in a band, but I who spend harder and going to see him quite regularly. So I don know when it's well, you don't make money, a much money out of the eight peace car band? No, no, I think many people are suffering that same consequence and bit and, like we said earlier, the logistics of moving scar bands around not any that, just paying them as well. Try that. You know that blanket fee doesn't matter whether you're a solo act or a scar band istill the blanket fears the same and splitting it ten ways instead of one way and hearing the DJ. That's what I said here. Well, weld, that you're going to do that and not me. May I do it for love as well. I don't worry about that. Before night gone, take you before the break. We did hear scar vendors, who I mean Stevie and the boys and Pat powal on, all those guys, same, same type of deal.
